Brief 4: Logo Development Ideas Research

After producing the type for the logo, a couple of people in the studio suggested making a badge style logo, so I have done a bit of research into the style I would produce it in. I think a badge style logo would be quite appropriate as it adds quite a personal, handmade touch to the brand, and it would imitate the way in which coffee producers and packagers in Uganda would normally apply a logo to their packaging - as a stamp.

This example from Behance shows the way a logo could be produced as a badge that can be stamped onto different elements of the brand:

and also how the logo has different variations depending on its application:

Another example is this one which is also from Behance:

This example shows more of an adaptable logo, where the different variations can be used depending on the space available, and the logo also adds to the brand identity by becoming quite a focal point of all the packaging.

This last example from Danish designer Jonathan Faust shows the way in which a badge can be used as the brand identity, but not necessarily as the logo.

The badge is adaptable for each product in the range and has a very organised system to how it works. The badge becomes the brand identity and the different names for each product can be applied to the badge logo.
